The work above is a piece from the Villa Delirium exhibit of Seattle artist-in-residence, Charles Krafft. Krafft is known internationally for his dark sense of humor. The exhibit includes over 100 pieces "Disasterware" plates and hand-painted porclain skateboards. He learned traditiona China painting in order to paint a portrait of artist and custom car legend, Von Dutch in Dutch Delft style. He wanted to send him this painting to him as a token of respect. His work has appeared in The New Yorker, Harpers, Artforum, and Juxatpoz magazines. His works have also been featured in four books in the last two years.

Jill Sykes, the artist whose new work appears to the left, currently has pieces showing the Rental & Sales Gallery. She has been a student at Santa Monica School of Design, Art & Architecture.

 

 

The Cal State University Fullerton Grand Central Art Center opened to the pubic about two years ago. In its two short years of existence, it has won two American Institute of Architects regional design awards for urban redevelopment. There have been twelve artists-in-residence (the A.I.R program) from all over the world. Plans are in the works for bringing artists from Spain, Italy, Cuba, Ecuador, Finland, and Switzerland in the next two years.
